Northwest MedStar Takes to the Air and Ground from Missoula Base
Critical care transport and membership services, previously provided by the Life Flight air ambulance program in Missoula, is being provided by Spokane-based Northwest MedStar. On April 2, 2014, Northwest MedStar began operations from its base at the Missoula International Airport and look forward to furthering collaborations with providers in the region and continuing to serve patients.

Northwest MedStar Missoula is offering you the same, uninterrupted, critical care transport services, previously provided by the Life Flight air program of Missoula. Even though the name has changed, the high-quality staff and commitment to excellence remains, and the critical air and ground operations based in Missoula continue.
Northwest MedStar, the preferred provider of critical care transport for Providence St. Patrick Hospital and Community Medical Center, continues to deliver the highest quality of services to the Montana region safely and efficiently:
- The Missoula base offers three modes of transportation (helicopter, airplane and critical care ground) increasing transport flexibility for weather, terrain and patient need.
- Northwest MedStar has worked closely with Life Flight Missoula for several years. Northwest MedStar is familiar with the Montana region and has provided critical care transport for patients of all ages for twenty years. Whether called to an on-scene emergency or an interfacility transport , Northwest MedStar teams are dedicated to the safe, compassionate care of critically ill or injured patients.
- Northwest MedStar is committed to maintaining quality patient care and critical care transport services, as evidenced by their continuous accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) since 1996.
- Life Flight team members are now part of the Northwest MedStar Missoula flight team, including Metro Aviation staff, ensuring ongoing quality patient care. Given the recent influx of air medical providers, we’re pleased to have local medical teams known for collaborating with health care professional to provide life-saving care.

The process for requesting critical care transport does not change for requesting facilities in Montana. Please call 1(800) 991-7363 or 1 (800) 422-2440. Northwest MedStar’s communications specialists have coordinated Life Flight calls and transports since 2003.
