In 1994, leaders of the leading health care providers in Spokane, WA, - Deaconess Medical Center, Holy Family Hospital, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital and Valley Hospital and Medical Center – began working together to meet their shared goal of providing the highest quality of health care to the region.

The result of this innovative union was Inland Northwest Health Services, and Northwest MedStar was its first achievement. By combining resources and ideas from both organizations, each could benefit from state-of-the-art aircraft, communications and safety equipment, as well as the finest team of critical care professionals in the Northwest.
